Project Description
Member of marine Synechococcus cluster 5.1; member of clade VI (16S, Fuller et al., 2003). Clade VII genotypes detected in open ocean environments in the Indian Ocean (Arabian Sea), and Pacific Ocean. Microdiversity observed within the genus lends itself as a key organism for 'cluster sequencing' to define the underlying genetic basis for niche adaptation.
