Welcome to the Genomes OnLine
Database, Release 3.0
GOLD: Genomes Online Database, is a World Wide
Web resource for comprehensive access to information regarding complete
and ongoing genome projects, as well as metagenomes and metadata, around the world.
COMMUNITY CALL: For more efficient project tracking, the sequencing centers and
the community at large are highly encouraged to register their sequencing
projects in GOLD. Furthermore, in order to facilitate cross-reference
between different resources, it is recommended that the genome
submission files, should also include the corresponding GOLD ID and the
accompanied project metadata.
For new project submission to the
database see above.

'Genome
sequencing has come of age, and genomics will become central to
microbiology's future.
It may appear at the moment that the human genome is the main focus and
primary goal of genome sequencing, but do not be deceived. The real
justification in the long run, is
microbial genomics'
Carl Woese, 1998 |
